ByAl Majlis Times staff

UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi met Canada's Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu in Ottawa to discuss elevating the two countries' strategic trade and investment partnership, during the official visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Canada.

Al Zeyoudi said concluding negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in record time was an important step that opens a new chapter in relations, as the agreement provides a platform to boost trade and investment flows and give both business communities access to larger and more diverse growth opportunities.

The minister said the meeting covered expanding cooperation in priority sectors including infrastructure, logistics, energy, critical minerals, advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, in support of sustainable development and shared prosperity, and that he looks forward to building on the positive momentum in UAE–Canada relations.

The meeting took place during the same visit that saw the CEPA signed in the presence of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as part of the UAE's programme to widen its network of trade partners.
