Editorial policy

This page sets out the principles the Al Majlis Times team follows when gathering, writing and publishing news.

1. Sources

We rely first and foremost on official sources (the official accounts of leaders, ministries and government bodies, and press releases) and on established media organisations. We do not publish information we cannot attribute to a clear source, and we do not publish rumours or content of unknown origin.

2. Attribution and sourcing

Every item ends with the name of the source and a direct link to the original material (for example: "Source: UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs via X"), together with the publication time in UAE time. Where we rely on more than one source, we name the primary source.

3. Rewriting, not copying

We write our news in our own words: a headline and summary that briefly restate the core information. We do not copy full texts from other sources. Direct quotations are placed in quotation marks and attributed to the speaker. Images are used from their sources with attribution.

4. Neutrality and respect

We use neutral, non-inflammatory language and keep news separate from opinion. We observe official titles and protocol when referring to Their Highnesses, heads of state and officials, and we report their statements as they appear in official sources, without distortion and without attributing to them anything they did not say.

5. Corrections

If an error is confirmed in any published item, we correct it as quickly as possible and explain the nature of the correction if it is substantive. To report an error, contact us via @sultanwho with a link to the item and a description of the error.

6. Advertising and paid content

The site may display advertising from partners such as Google. Advertising does not influence editorial content, and any paid or sponsored material is clearly labelled.

7. Insider content

Insider articles are exclusive opinion pieces written by contributors and published under their names. The views expressed are the authors' own and do not necessarily reflect those of Al Majlis Times. Our team reviews them before publication, they are held to the same standards of accuracy, attribution and correction, and an author's text is never changed without their approval.

8. Translation

The English edition presents English versions of stories first written in Arabic. Translations follow the same editorial standards; where the wording differs, the Arabic original and the linked source prevail.
