Houthi missile lands inside Aden airport before evacuation call
A missile fired by the Houthis landed inside the grounds of Aden International Airport on Wednesday before the group called on people there to evacuate immediately, according to an Aden police source, who gave no details on casualties or damage.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree had urged everyone at the airport to leave at once, claiming a Saudi military cargo plane was carrying weapons, amid continuing strikes between the group and Saudi Arabia.
It follows the Houthis' claim days earlier of targeting the Al-Nasr camp and a naval base in Aden after three explosions, two of them near the airport in Khor Maksar district. On 16 October Yemen's transport ministry said the airport was hit by two ballistic missiles as a civilian plane prepared to depart for Cairo, a day after an attack on Maashiq Palace, the government's seat, killed five and injured 16.
Local authorities in Aden accused the Houthis of trying to disrupt air traffic and target vital facilities, saying state institutions continue to operate despite the attacks.
