Fleetwood knock Arsenal out of the League Cup

Fourth-tier Fleetwood stunned Premier League champions Arsenal, eliminating them from the League Cup fourth round on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The result is one of the competition's biggest upsets this season: fourth-tier sides rarely knock out the Premier League champions, even in a tournament famous for shocks.

Big clubs often give chances to squad and young players in this competition, but the early exit is still a disappointment for an Arsenal side aiming to compete for every trophy.

For Fleetwood, the win brings a major boost in morale and revenue and puts the club in the national spotlight.
