Jordan and Syria form security committee on ISIS strikes

ByAl Majlis Times staff

Jordan and Syria agreed on Tuesday night to set up a joint security committee to establish the details and facts of the Jordanian air strikes that targeted ISIS positions in Syria.

The committee aims to coordinate information between the two sides on the strikes, their targets and their results, to limit any misunderstanding and strengthen cooperation against the group.

Jordan and Syria share a long border that has for years been a security concern for Amman because of armed groups and smuggling.

The committee is seen as a sign that both countries want to handle shared security issues through organised channels.
