Netanyahu: still waiting for the full results

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is still waiting for the final results of the Knesset election, hours after polling stations closed on Tuesday evening.

Netanyahu's remarks came as early results showed a close race between his camp and the opposition led by former army chief Gadi Eisenkot, leaving the outcome dependent on the full count and seat allocation.

Either camp needs 61 of the Knesset's 120 seats to form a stable government, and coalition negotiations in Israel often take weeks after official results are announced.

Netanyahu is the longest-serving prime minister in Israel's history, and this election is a decisive test of his political future.
